The daily news is a newspaper published on a regular schedule. It contains articles about current events, often with a local focus. Many of the biggest newspapers publish online in addition to their printed editions. Their websites are usually designed to be user-friendly and include links to other websites with additional information. They also allow readers to subscribe to the newspaper electronically.
A number of traditional print newspapers are still published on Sundays, although they are usually merged into the Sunday edition of their parent publication. In some cases, a separate Sunday newspaper is produced with an entirely different content. For example, The Times and The Sunday Times are distinct publications despite sharing the same name but have completely different content offerings.
The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper and has been independently owned since its founding in 1878. The newspaper serves Yale College and the city of New Haven, Connecticut. The News publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year, and publishes special issues each semester such as the Game Day Issue and Commencement Issue. The News has also begun publishing special issues for students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in collaboration with campus cultural centers.
The newspaper is based in 220 East 42nd Street, an art deco building that was designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood, and was a model for the Daily Planet building in the first two Superman movies. The News operates satellite bureaus at New York City Hall and One Police Plaza, and maintains a presence within the Brooklyn and Queens district courts. The News is an investor in the television station WPIX and owns its former radio sibling, WFAN. The News is a member of the Newspaper Guild, and is an affiliate of the New York Press Association. The News has an AllSides media bias rating of Left. This indicates that the majority of its articles tend to lean left-leaning and slant toward progressive thought. The News’ editorials lean left-leaning as well.
