A pleasant or agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement: Solving a crossword puzzle is a popular entertainment. Entertaiment provides a break from the daily grind, teaches children cooperation and teamwork (through playing with dolls or group games), develops motor skills through music and sports, promotes creativity in art, and improves communication skills through play and video games. Entertainment also demonstrates the ability of familiar images and structures to survive in different media; for example, Scheherazade’s stories have been told as operas, films, and books, and her tales have inspired many innovative video games.
