Daily news is a collection of current events in the form of articles and news stories. It usually includes political news, world news, sports news, entertainment news and more. It also contains features like opinion pieces and letters to the editor. It can be accessed on a range of devices like computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
The Daily News is an American tabloid newspaper founded in 1919. Originally known as the Illustrated Daily News, it quickly became one of the largest newspapers in the United States. Its sensational crime, scandal and violence coverage, lurid photographs and cartoons helped propel it to prominence. It eventually reached a peak circulation of 2.4 million copies per day in 1947, making it the eleventh-highest circulated newspaper at the time.
Today’s Daily News is headquartered in the iconic art deco Daily News Building on 42nd Street near Second Avenue. The building is an official city and national landmark designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood. The building served as the model for the Daily Planet in the first two Superman films and is still used for news coverage and home to a radio and television station.
In addition to the newspaper’s main New York City edition, the paper publishes a number of special issues throughout the year. These include the Yale-Harvard game day issue, the commencement issue and the First Year Issue. The News is the oldest college daily newspaper in the United States and is financially and editorially independent. Many of its former student editors and writers have gone on to prominent careers in journalism and public life, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Joe Lieberman, Strobe Talbott and Garry Trudeau.
The Yale Daily News is published Monday through Friday during the academic year in order to serve the Yale and New Haven communities. The paper is a member of the New England Media Association and the Association of Great Lakes Presses.
