Entertainment is a form of activity designed to amuse, instruct or inform. It may also have a more serious purpose, as in a ceremony, celebration, religious festival or satire. It can be adapted to any scale, from an individual selecting personal entertainment from an enormous choice of pre-recorded products; through parties for family or friends; to theatres and performances for thousands.

Entertaiment often hits on themes that the human brain was evolved to react deeply to, like backstabbing, murder and other social situations that we had to understand in order to survive. This makes it interesting and enjoyable, but sometimes unsettling.
